My name is Nichole Dunst, and I am the face and the voice behind Zero Waste ROC. I am a Rochester native who spent her first 18 years of life in the area, then left and lived in a few other places for 7 years. When I came back, I was delighted to see how much the city had changed. There’s a new, young energy to the area and so many incredible new shops, restaurants, and small businesses to explore. I feel both a strong duty and a strong desire to help transform the Rochester community into one that is more conscious of the environment.
While I am still, and will always be, a work in progress, I think living as close to zero-waste as possible is an important component to being a good steward for the environment. It most certainly isn’t the end-all-be-all, but it’s a good place to start.
My goal is for Zero Waste ROC to be a safe, open space for us all to learn and grow from each other. To encourage us all to leave Rochester better than we found it.
